  In an Abuja hotel,  authorities arrested  Buhari Muhammad, a  notorious kidnapping  kingpin, along with five  others. The police in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, apprehended suspected notorious kidnappers, including one Buhari Muhammad and five other members of their syndicate in Abuja.  According to a statement released on Monday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the suspects were arrested at a hotel in Bassa village in the nation’s capital. The statement identified the five other suspects as a wanted kidnapping kingpin, Muhammad Sabiu, Isah Abdullahi, Hamzat Musa, Fatima Abdullahi, and Zuliat Yusuf.  The notorious kidnapping syndicate was held responsible for the abduction of Joshua Eze, the husband of Blessing Eze, who sustained a bullet injury during her husband’s abduction.  NSCDC Arrests 13 Suspected Vandals And Illegal Miners In FCT Two suspected railway vandals and eleven illegal miners have been caught by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, FCT Command. Confirming the event in a statement on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, Comfort Okomanyi, the Spokesperson of the corps in FCT, disclosed that the two railway vandals were apprehended by the operatives of the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure unit of the command, for willfully vandalising rail tracks, and traffic lights in the Wuye Area of the territory, According to the statement, the Command, while working together with the Nigerian Army arrested these 11 suspects involved in illegal mining activities at Izom, a community located at the boundary of FCT and Niger State.  Bandits kidnap Abuja newspaper distributors’ president John Emmanuel, President of Abuja Newspapers Distributors’ Association, has been kidnapped. On Thursday Emmanuel was abducted while returning home from work on Tuesday night (Dec. 12). Unbeknownst to him, he boarded a “one-chance” vehicle and fell victim to their antics. “One-chance” is commonly used in Nigeria to refer to fraud; especially when a group of criminals disguised as taxi drivers pick up passengers to rob or defraud them. Mrs Uche Emmanuel, the victim’s wife, said   that her husband’s kidnappers are demanding N15 million to release him. Police authorities said they could not launch a rescue operation, because no report was made. “There is no such incident reported at any of our stations for now,” Abuja police spokesperson Josephine Adeh said.

 Gunmen Abduct Father Of FCT Abuja Council Chair, Six Others, Demand N30million Ransom Gunmen believed to be kidnappers have shot dead a man, Hussaini Kure, during an attack on Yewuti village in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory. A resident told Daily Trust that around 12am, the gunmen in their large numbers wielding AK-47 rifles invaded three houses, including the house of the father of the vice chairman, Suleiman Idris, and whisked him away alongside six other villagers. “Unfortunately, one of the villagers, Hussaini Kure, who attempted to escape was shot dead by the gunmen,” he added.  Apprentice Dies After Allegedly Beaten By Boss In Delta An apprentice identified as Onome has died after allegedly being beaten by his boss simply identified as Orunor in Sapele, Delta State. Naijadailydive  reports that the incident occurred at the Delta carpenter’s workshop located along New Ogorode Road, Sapele few days ago. Aside from disciplining his apprentice over “lateness to work,” Orunor had also accused Onome of stealing his Automated Teller Machine card It was reportedly resolved that the boy should be disciplined decisively through beating. However, the alleged beating took a new twist for the apprentice who, on reaching home, was said to have complained of pains all over his body, to his parents. He reportedly told his parents about the beating he got but after they took him to the hospital for treatment, he died before he could be attended to.  Suspected killer of Rivers DPO arrested in Bayelsa The Bayelsa State Police Command has said that its operatives have arrested one of the suspected killers of the former Divisional Police Officer, Ahoada Division, Rivers State, late Bako Angbashim, a Superintendent of Police. This was contained in a statement signed by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Asinim Butswat. It identified the suspect as Onyekachi Okowa, who is the second in command to TuBaba of the Iceland cult group. The command said Ikowa was arrested in a hideout in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, on Saturday following credible intelligence. It added that the suspect had been handed over to the Rivers State Police Command.  Court remands 2 to correctional centre over missing manhood The Chief Magistrate’s Court II sitting in Port Harcourt on Friday remanded John Shadrack, 22, and William Isaiah, 33, to a Correctional Centre for assaulting Mr Felix Tuoyo, 70, over an alleged missing manhood. The defendants were remanded on two-count charges of conspiracy and assault. The prosecuting officer, Insp. M. Ebirie, had told the court that on Oct. 24, at SPAR Shopping Mall in Port Harcourt, the defendants assaulted Tuoyo and his wife, Susan, over a suspicion that the old man stole Shadrack’s manhood. Ebirie explained that the defendants, and others currently at large, conspired and committed a felony, an offence punishable under section 516(A) of the Criminal Code, cap 37, Vol.ll, law of Rivers state of Nigeria.  JTF Arrests 135 Suspected Criminals In FCT The Joint Task Force (JTF) Operation Safe FCT has arrested 135 suspects during coordinated raids of criminal hideouts, uncompleted buildings and shanties in the territory. The Commissioner of Police in the FCT, Mr Haruna Garba, said this during a media briefing on Thursday in Abuja. He said the JTF was inaugurated by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Mr Nyesom Wike to flush out criminal elements out of the territory.
