  Former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim Switches from PDP to APC Former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim has departed from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement took place at an event in Abakaliki, where APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje welcomed prominent new members in Ebonyi State on July 13. Anyim, who also served as Secretary to the Government of the Federation under President Goodluck Jonathan, participated in the 2022 PDP presidential primary but received only 14 votes. From 1999 to 2003, he represented the Ebonyi South Senatorial District as a PDP member and was elected President of the Senate during that period.

   Pennsylvania Man Identified as Shooter in Attempted Attack on Donald Trump The FBI has identified Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the person responsible for the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump during a campaign rally on July 13. The incident took place in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump was speaking to his supporters. According to an FBI statement, Crooks was shot and killed by a Secret Service sniper at the scene. Kevin Rojek, the FBI Pittsburgh special agent in charge, stated that the motive for the attack is still unknown.
